Eating crackers between tasting different wines can help
cleanse your palate, giving you a more accurate tasting of
each wine. Water is often used to rinse out your wine glass
between wines. (Actually, experts seem split on this.
Some recommend rinsing your glass, so there is no residue
from the previous wine. Others say that rinsing leaves a
water residue, which for a small taste of wine can have a
significant impact on the taste, especially the viscosity,
of the wine.)
One other tip: if you rinse with water, you
don’t have to pour it out. Consider drinking it, as a way of
keeping yourself hydrated and reducing the risk of inebriation.
The wine buckets are for pouring out the water after you’ve
rinsed your glass, or for pouring out any wine you don’t want to drink.
Don’t hesitate to use these if you don’t like the wine!
